Bassey B. Anwanane attended the University of Calabar, Nigeria, where he obtained his law degree in 1987. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. He is the founding and senior partner of TZLF. Prior to founding TZLF, he had spent a decade at the reputable Lagos-based law firm of Paul Usoro and Co, rising to the position of Partner and Head of the General Commercial Practice Section of that firm, with a hard-earned reputation as both an exceptional litigator and solicitor. His main areas of practice include Banking and Finance, Energy, and Litigation and Arbitration.

Between 1999 and 2007, Mr Anwanane did what he refers to as his tour of public duty, having been headhunted to serve as Special Assistant to the Governor, in the Government of Akwa Ibom Sate, an office in which he was frequently charged with responsibility for leading the State’s team in the negotiation of various economic projects and arrangements, including joint ventures, on behalf of the State, especially in the energy sector. He has also served as a director on the board of substantial companies in the housing, energy and insurance sectors.

Mr Anwanane is also a Notary Public for Nigeria, a Capital Market Solicitor registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). He is also a member of the Governing Council of Clifford University, Ihie, and has been fully engaged at TZLF as senior partner since he finished his tour of public duty in year 2007.
